Sandpipers Week 7: 22nd February 2021

Welcome Back!

I do hope that you have all had a good break and are feeling refreshed and ready to continue with the Home Learning.

We have just one more week to finish our topic "Let's go on Safari".

This half term we continue our "Earth" theme and will not be looking at Plants and Growth. We will be keeping a bean diary, making observations and taking measurements.

Our Talk for Writing units will be "The Papaya That Spoke" and "How to grow a bean".

We continue for one more week on the unit of Number and place value to 50, we then move on two units on measurement, first Height and Length then Weight and Capacity.

Please continue to access the Ruth Miskin Youtube videos.

It has been great seeing your completed work uploaded onto Class Dojo. Please continue to do so and send me photos of other activities that you have been up to.
Reading

It is important to read regularly every day.  Encourage your child to read any text around you, books, magazines recipes etc..

Please take a look at the Oxford University Press website, where you will find Read Write Inc books that are appropriate to your child's reading ability. If you are unsure of which level to they are reading at, please send a message on Class Dojo. I will put the log in details on Class Dojo again for you to use.

Handwriting

When practicing your handwriting, make sure you are holding the pencil properly with a “frog legs grip”, the pencil should be held with your thumb and first (index) finger, the other fingers should be tucked up underneath.

Make sure that you are sitting comfortably, with your feet flat on the floor and make sure that your table and work are a good height, use a cushion to lift you up a little if you need to.

This week we return to writing the days of the week. As well as writing these, it is important that we now know hoe to spell them. Once you have completed the handwriting activity, can you cover the words and write them without looking at them? Have a go, the more you practise the more confident you will become at spelling the days of the week!

Have a go at Saturday and Sunday too, they can be sounded out.
