English - Talk for Writing - Meerkat Mail Week 2

This week we are going to be changing our story a little bit.

Instead of Sunny being a meerkat, I want you to choose another animal that lives on the Savannah.

Your new character “Sunny” might be a gazelle, antelope or a giraffe, there are many animals to choose from.

But to be able to write about a character well, you need to do a little research.

With the support of an adult where possible, I would like you to find out at least 5 interesting facts about your chosen animal. When you have writtten them down, I would love to see a your pictures of them.

Maths - We are now moving on to a new block of learning within the  White Rose framework. Our new unit is Number: Place Value (within 50).

We are going to start this week by counting to 50 by making 10s. Follow the link to the lesson presentation and complete the activity.
There is also a Problems Solving and Reasoning question below, have a go, especially Hexagon group!

Remember our rhymme "Before you tap or click, you've got to stop and think and TELL someone!.

When you have watched the clip, I would like you to make a list of ways in which you use computers in your lives.

Today we are going to start changing the story a little. But only the beginning.

Today we are going to continue to change the story a little. But only the middle.

You may like to use the following slide and fill in the gaps or to help your handwriting, you may choose to write it all out for yourself.

Handwriting

When practicing your handwriting, make sure you are holding the pencil properly with a “frog legs grip”, the pencil should be held with your thumb and first (index) finger, the other fingers should be tucked up underneath.

Make sure that you are sitting comfortably, with your feet flat on the floor and make sure that your table and work are a good height, use a cushion to lift you up a little if you need to.
