Thank you to everyone that has managed to upload photos into portfolios on Class Dojo. If there is anything that I can do to further support you, please do not be afraid to message me, I will do my best to get back to you as soon as I can, but if I am working in school this may take a bit longer.

Please continue to use Joe Wicks for exercise on a Monday, Wednesday and Friday morning at 9.00 am on YouTube. In school, we have managed to do it everyday (watching recordings) - we are going to be so fit!

It is great to see that Mathletics and Numbots are being used. If log ins have been lost, please message me.

I have put some additional resources on our Bespoke Page to support learning.
Daily Phonics

It is really important to keep practising! Please see the schedule for Ruth Miskins Read Write Inc daily lessons below.

Remember when reading books, if you come across a word that you are finding difficult, look for the "Special Friends", "Fred Talk" and then say the word.

If you are having problems writing down words, use "Fred Fingers" to help you spell.
PE - Don't forget to join Joe Wicks an his exercise regime on Monday, Wednesday and Friday at 9.00 am live, or join in with the recorded session.
Rapid Recall

Rapid Recall is a quick fire, timed activity that we do before our main maths lesson. It is so that children build up their speed in recalling their number facts.

English - Talk for Writing

This week we are going to be inventing our own journey story. In Week 1, we learnt our model text by heart, last week we innovated by adapting it to to changing the fruit and the characters.

We will begin this week by planning our journey story, thinking about the characters and the purpose for their journey - what they are taking to their friends house and how they get there. This doesn't need to be printed, use the boxes as a guide to help you plan, I am expecting that the planning stage will take two days to do a thorough job!

On you planning sheet, make sure that you think about the objects and use interesting adjectives to describe them.

Handwriting

When practicing your handwriting, make sure you are holding the pencil properly with a “frog legs grip”, the pencil should be held with your thumb and first (index) finger, the other fingers should be tucked up underneath.

Make sure that you are sitting comfortably, with your feet flat on the floor and make sure that your table and work are a good height, use a cushion to lift you up a little if you need to.

Computing - Digital Literacy

This weeks lesson is on finding out "How computers can help you learn". Please follow the link below to the BBC Bitsesize lesson.

English - Talk for Writing - Your story

Today and tomorrow I would like you to use the plan that you made on Monday and Tuesday to write your very own journey story.

Your story doesn't have to be set in Africa (unless you want it to be) and it doesn't have to be about taking fruit to a friend, but I would like you to make it about taking something to someone. Like the story of Handa's Surprise, I would like a problem to happen on the way, perhaps things fell out of a bag, perhaps you gave things away on the journey; then I would like to see the problem being solved and your main characters friend getting something from the main character.  I hope this makes sense.

Remember, start your sentences with a capital letter, use clear finger spaces between words and don't forget to put a full stop at the end of the sentence.  If you are writing a list of things, remember to put a comma in between the words.

I would love to see some interesting adjectives too!
Maths

Have a look at the White Rose Website for the lesson presentation and complete the activity below. If you want an extra challenge there is a Problem Solving and Reasoning question on the word document below. I would like Hexagons to have a go at this too.

In Handa's Surprise, the author uses the word "or" quite a bit. The word "or" is called a conjunction - it joins two parts of a sentence together. Have a look at the following presentation and then complete the worksheets. The first worksheet on page 2 is the easiest  (with E in the star), I would hope that most of you will complete the second worksheet (with D in the star) and some of you might like to challenge yourselves by completing the 3rd worksheet (with GD in the start)
Music

This week we are going to be looking at understanding how sound is represented by symbols in lesson 3 of our unit on Pulse with the Oak National Academy.
