Built in 1986, the original school consisted of four well-proportioned classrooms, a multi-functional hall, a library, a kitchen and an upstairs room. In November 2017, we were delighted to open our brand new nursery, thus extending the school's age range. Our youngest children engage in early years experiences in a 'state of the art' eco-classroom, sympathetically constructed in the corner of the adjoining field. In order to meet the increasing demand for local school places, two extra classrooms were installed to the front of the main building in August 2018. Currently, Mabe School consists of the following classes: Nursery (Choughs & Chicks), Reception (Kittiwakes), Year 1 (Sandpipers), Year 2 (Curlews), Year 3/4 (Cormorants), Year 4/5 (Puffins) and Year 5/6 (Herons).
There are two playgrounds, one on a lower level next to the school and the second (netball court size) in a higher position, level with the car park and nursery. The children access the adjoining field (which is shared with the community) for PE, dry weather playtimes and various learning opportunities. The Community Hall is adjacent to the school on a separate site. Links between Mabe School and the community are strong, with children from Years 4- 6 sailing with Helford River Sailing Trust, a number of girls attending Mabe Brownies at the hall and various classes taking part in activities with Asda Penryn (such as July's Teddy Bears' Picnic). We are regularly joined in assemblies by Rev. Steve Smith and Rev. Amanda Evans from Mabe Church.
Upon leaving Mabe School, the vast majority of our pupils continue their learning journeys at Penryn College (penryn-college.cornwall.sch.uk).
