Spring 2021

Britain Since 1948

Week 7: Week beginning 22nd February 2021
Hello,

Welcome to the second half of the Spring term. This half term, our topic is called "Britain Since 1948". We will be studying each decade from the 50s, all of the way through to the present day.

Most of the activities found below are designed to be completed on paper or in a notebook if preferred - they do not need to be printed. Once you have completed activities on paper, please upload your work to your dojo portfolio in the usual way. At the end of last half term some assignments were also set on Microsoft Teams. This will continue and you will be directed to the assignment as and when necessary on this page.

Thank you in advance for your hard work. If you have any questions about anything, please don't hesitate to contact me via dojo,

Many thanks,
Mr Cruse
Guided Reading

This term, we will be studying the book 'The Boy at the Back of the Class' by Onjali Q. Rauf. We will be focussing on a chapter each day and there will set tasks to complete. The questions will be set as a Teams assignment. The whole week's worth of work will be in one document so you can revisit it as and when you choose (1 page a day). Simply delete the lines where you would normally handwrite the answers and type them instead.

On Friday's I would like you to choose a book that you love and read for enjoyment.

There are a few ways which you can access this book which are outlined below:

  • You can purchase a hard copy for £5.99 or a kindle version for £3.99 on Amazon. There is also a free 30 day trial for the audio version if you'd like to sign up to this and would like to listen to the story instead.

https://www.amazon.co.uk/Boy-At-Back-Class/dp/1510105018/ref=tmm_pap_swatch_0?_encoding=UTF8&qid=&sr=

  • Another free way of listening to the story is on Youtube. Simply type in "The Boy at the Back of the Class chapter _____" into the search bar and then there are a range of people reading each chapter of the book.
