Talk for writing

Today we are going to collecting words from the newsletter article for us to use later on in our own writing. Remember, this is what we would normally put into our magpie books. This can be done on any piece of paper. For example, you might really like the word 'disruption' so you would write this down onto a piece of paper and then find out the meaning of the word. Please find the newsletter attached underneath here.

To start today's lesson please allow your child 1 minute to complete the rapid recall sheet which is uploaded underneath. This task allows the children to get faster answering the questions.

For todays maths lesson, we will be looking at 'using arrays'. Please find the learning video here - https://whiterosemaths.com/homelearning/year-2/spring-week-2-number-multiplication-and-division/
Topic

During today's topic lesson, we would've been completing a walk around Mabe so we would be able to create a route.

If possible, please have a play on Google Earth, discussing different routes you could use to walk around Mabe.

If this is not possible, please use the screenshot of Mabe which I have uploaded underneath here for you to view.

I would then like the children to draw the route they would've taken around the village onto a piece of paper, this can be coloured and can use different materials if you wish. I look forward to looking at the route you would've taken.

Talk for Writing

Starter: Have a look at the local news and try to spot quotes which are in the articles. Are these quotes useful? What is the point of having quotes? What punctuation do we need to use when using quotes?

Main task: This week we are going to be writing a newsletter article about building a new swimming pool in Mabe. If we asked the locals in Mabe about what they think about the swimming pool, what would they say?
Please write down two positive and two negative quotes about what you think the locals would say.

Talk for Writing

Today we are going to start writing our news article innovation. The focus of this newsletter is going to be about a swimming pool being built in Mabe. I've uploaded the template underneath - please do not print this off unless you want to, your child can transfer the information onto a plain piece of paper.

This piece of writing will take place over two days, so please don't rush this learning. The children need to change some of the words to fit making the newsletter about the swimming pool. They are able to use the same sentence starters if they wish, they are able to challenge themselves by changing the sentence starters.
